Alumax Boats awarded contract for Royal Netherlands Navy

Meppel – Alumax Boats b.v. has been awarded a contract by the Ministry of Defence to build two multifunctional aluminum vessels for the Royal Netherlands Navy. These vessels will be used for various tasks on the inland waters of Amsterdam and the IJ, with the Marine Establishment Amsterdam as their home port.

The new so-called director’s vessels are designed for a wide range of applications. In addition to transporting people, including VIPs, the boats will also serve as training vessels, support the water police, transport secured individuals, and tow or move pontoons and other vessels without propulsion. The 14-meter by 3.5-meter boats can accommodate up to thirteen passengers, including the crew.

In line with national and local policies, the vessels will be fully electric, contributing to a sustainable future on the water. The delivery of these boats is scheduled for the end of spring 2025.

Remko Germeraad, director of Alumax Boats, expressed his pride in this prestigious contract: “This contract marks a new milestone in the history of Alumax Boats. I am proud of the trust that the Royal Netherlands Navy has placed in us, and I am confident that our team will live up to that trust.”

Patrick Bekken, Commander of the Marine Establishment Amsterdam, and Remko Germeraad, CEO of Alumax Boats, signed the contract on Monday.
With this contract, Alumax Boats strengthens its position as a leading builder of high-quality, multifunctional vessels, with a strong focus on sustainability and quality.
